Artwork for Healing

Drawing and painting was always a form of expression for me.  The first years were spent in trying to have ”photo copy” artwork without actually copying the picture.

Then a virus, mimicking multiple sclerosis, affected the nerves.  There was no ability to hold a pencil for years.  As the feeling came back into the fingers, my husband, Patrick, tried all types of options to move toward a more complete healing. Rena Gijlstra, a psychic medical intuitive, advised more artwork as part of the  therapy.  (16 years passed before we found out the real cause was Celiac Disease.)

I could not hold the brush or pen steady in the hand in the initial efforts.  So, a short brushstroke was implemented.  The first venturing back into painting was moods and a looser flow of a concept.   Then came the feeling to get back into more detail without the obsessive tendency.

Art has the ability to express those corners of the inner mind and to open the doorway for healthy thoughts to move in.  You want any artwork that you create to be given the freedom to express any hidden moods.  Try a bit of art therapy for an outlet for those unexpressed and even scary feelings.

There is healing in every brushstroke.  Why?  Because it means you are alive and can express your uniqueness.  It also opens up an avenue for fun and laughter.  When you create from the heart, love and joy follow.
